THEIR STORY
EIGHT YEARS AGO...
It actually all began in 2009, in Mrs. Dyson's English class. They barely spoke, but Fall 2009 is technically when they first met!
Fast forward to freshman year (Fall 2011) at San Diego State University, they shared Bio 100 in a large lecture class. Kalia was nervous, and Cody was shy! Two years after high school, they barely shared a conversation. To this day, Kalia is still a bit wounded that Cody didn't want to sit next to her, even though she was the only one he knew in the large lecture class.
They reconnected on the steps the following year at a house party as Kalia got a breath of fresh air. There was an immediate connection, and the rest as they say, was history. That spring, Kalia transferred to University of San Diego. The most ironic part is that after 5+ years of school together, Cody and Kalia finally shared a conversation two weeks before she was set to transfer to a different university.
YEARS OF INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL, DEVELOPING CAREERS AND MANY FIRSTS, THEY REMAINED CONSTANT, WHILE FOSTERING THEIR RELATIONSHIP AS INDIVIDUALS AND AS A COUPLE.
There are a lot of things that happen in seven years. Just to name a few:
College major changes
Study abroad
First vacations together
First jobs
College graduations
First adult-jobs
Going back to school
Changing jobs
Opening a business
Buying a car (twice!)
Traveling some more
Life-altering accident
Moving out!
Becoming fur-parents
In all of that time, we learned tough lessons, grew, cried, grew some more, and thanked each other every day for showing up, staying strong and loving each other so purely.
